This is a full-bodied and flavorful red that opens with peppercorn, aniseed and thyme. Oak flavors are well-integrated on the dense palate. Notes of berries, spices, thyme and coffee are supported by firm tannins and enough acidity to freshen the smooth finish. Dark plums and blackberries with chili and spice-box undertones. Some dried flowers, too. Fleshy texture in the mouth with joyful, rich and fruity character. More structured and spicy at the finish. Yet, all in balance and not overdone. Full and complex aromas of hot stones, black fruit, wood spice and char are compelling in front of a youthful palate. Blackberry, coffee, chocolate and peppery wood-spice flavors hum with residual ripe-berry notes on a deep finish.
